Way back most families had only one team, and high no other tech devices. Access to the World Wide Web is based on the dial-up modems that connect directly with a serial cable to the computer at home. No LAN is required. Advances in technology and adoption of broadband Internet access in homes, requires that the equipment should be networked to facilitate access online and to communicate and share information among it.
What I mean when I say that computers are appliances, game consoles next-generation printers, scanners, network-attached storage, etc. All devices need to share information among themselves on a LAN, but also need access to high speed Internet. To do this you must configure a home network. With a home network, essentially, create a local network, or wired or wireless devices which communicate with each other in the house, and also share the same connection Internet.
The network device control at home is the router. It is usually a device that allows you configure a cable or a wireless network. You can use the Ethernet cable if you do a wired or Wi-Fi wireless communications. This router also offers Integrated connectivity for Internet access.
Once set up a home network, you can connect PCs and laptops Home Xbox or PlayStation, webcams for security, Network Attached Storage (NAS), etc. After connecting devices that can be shared the network files, organize games, play online, visit your home after work using a webcam, etc.
